John Undercarriage, Detective, LAPD

A cat. His undercarriage is all wrong. He is a troubled cop in a drug- and gang-beleaguered precinct of the LAPD.

He works with Blake T. Borstal, the self-destructive police hound, on the toughest, craziest cases it's possible to get. Although severely deformed, this only gets in the way of his duties sometimes, while other times his ailments leave him a useless mewling cripple. He is consumed with vengeance for Bastard Pharmaceuticals, a drug company who released a drug which left his undercarriage decidedly wrong. He is convinced they have the cure, but for some strange, no doubt evil, reason, they won't release it. The bastards! he thinks in rage.

He is almost completely deaf, and so his favourite music is anything with a lot of bass so his twisted yet sensitive undercarriage can pick up the vibrations.

Blake T. Borstal, Detective, LAPD

Undercarriage's partner. Borstal is an irascible and alcoholic police dog, addicted to J&B. He was recently released from New Dog Borstal, the boot camp for bad hounds, after serving 5 years for a murder he didn't commit. He is determined to find out which scumbag criminal framed his ass.

Borstal is a very angry dog, which is what made him easy to frame in the first place. He lives in a trailer-kennel in a trailer park with other down-and-outs, where he drinks a lot.

When he drinks, he flies into drunken rages and barks so much he temporarily loses his voice. When this happens he becomes so mad he smashes his trailer-kennel up and savages his few meagre possessions with insane violence.

He enjoys taking his anger out on the criminal underclass and likes loud LA metal bands. His father and brother are both more successful than Borstal, which annoys him and makes him feel inferior. His relationship with them is, at best, fractious.
